Existing Issues
The existing tiering is just over 300mm in height as existing, sloping down towards the screen at the rear wall. The issue with the current layout is that users have to first climb up to step down, making access for disabled users difficult.
Proposed resolve
The best attributes for an LT are full accessibility, raked (tiered seating) and easy gangway access for getting in and out at peak times. Thinking out of the box - the best approach has been to flip the LT arrangement and mirror the current set up. This allows full accessibility with an enhanced space and 1 allows an increase in capacity from the current set up.
We have reversed the existing seating layout to maximise useability and wheelchair access. Raked tiering provided to a height of 1.2m to optimize viewing angle. Single sided gangway access to max seat capacity (12). 94 seats including disabled access. 1 tier could also be removed to allow for more flexibility at the front of the theatre. The gangway is placed to mirror the existing riser wall (to have student screen), offsetting the theatre to maximising viewing.
